Tabatha Coffey

"As a relative newcomer to the entertainment business, I am honored to be nominated for this award because I have always been out in my life and in my career and think visibility is so important to our community."

Tabatha Coffey has devoted her entire professional life to achieving excellence in hair design and education. She now brings her years of hands-on experience to help struggling salon owners turn around their businesses in her Bravo series Tabatha's Salon Takeover. From the beginning of her career when she was 14 in her native Surfer's Paradise, Australia, to her appearance as the "Fan Favorite" on Bravo's hit series Shear Genius, Coffey has devoted her life to the art of hair. Throughout her successful career, Coffey has worked with a who's who of the industry in Australia, Great Britain and the United States and has continuously developed and fine-tuned her skills as an artist, educator and business owner. Throughout her career, and now as a public personality in television and fashion, Tabatha has been out and proud, including being featured in the NoH8 PSA and campaign. Most recently, she was awarded HRC’s Visibility Award. In 2001, Coffey opened Industrie Hair Gurus, a successful east coast salon, where she continues to lead a staff of hairstylists and colorists servicing a large and loyal clientele. Coffey also styles clients at the Warren-Tricomi salon in West Hollywood on a regular basis. From 1997 to 2008, Coffey represented an intern ational product company as a key member of the Artistic Team. In addition to traveling around the world to educate stylists and represent the company at hair shows, Coffey created incredible hairstyles featured in national advertising and trend collection imagery. Coffey also works regularly as an editorial stylist for top fashion and beauty publications, including Seventeen, Marie Claire and various other publications, and she has worked backstage during New York's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. With her signature edgy style, youthful energy and exceptional skills as an artist and educator, Tabatha Coffey is without question the industry's leader and golde n girl. And as such, has never shied away from being an outspoken gay woman. Her life memoirs will be published by Harper Collins in Spring 2011, when season 3 of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover premieres on Bravo.
